A Golden Evening with Geese at Steinhorster Becken Yesterday evening, I grabbed my Canon RF 200–800mm lens and headed out to Steinhorster Becken for some bird photography just before sunset. There were plenty of birds around, but this time my main focus was on the geese stopping by for a rest. Some were relaxing on the water, while others gave me the perfect chance to capture a few action shots in flight. It was also a great opportunity to put my camera gear through its paces. Photographing birds in flight isn’t always easy, so I spent some time experimenting with autofocus tracking, shutter speeds, aperture, and ISO settings. And honestly, that’s half the fun—trying different settings, learning what works, and hopefully getting a few nice shots along the way. With my upcoming trip to Zingst at the end of October, where I’m planning to photograph migrating cranes, this was the perfect little practice session. I have a feeling I’ll be spending quite a few more evenings at Steinhorster Becken. It’s a fantastic place to enjoy nature, improve my wildlife photography skills, and simply have fun behind the camera.
